Customisation Services Explained
With our advanced machinery, Smart Workwear offers a variety of techniques to apply your logo to the garment of your choice. Our embroidery and printing technology will bring your logo to life on any item. However, it’s important to consider factors such as the garment’s material when deciding on the best method for application.
Embroidery
Embroidery is an excellent choice for many purposes, with one of the most common being employers using it to establish a strong identity for their workforce and promote their brand.
This process involves placing a metal frame onto the garment, with backing fabric applied to the logo area for stability while the logo is stitched. In some cases, this may leave a temporary mark on the garment, but it can be easily wiped or washed off. The embroidery is carried out by a computerized machine, where your logo is digitized and uploaded. The process begins once additional details, such as thread colour preferences, are provided.

Print
Printing offers numerous benefits: it’s highly durable and allows for the creation of unique, intricate designs with vibrant colours. We use top-of-the-line printing machines to ensure you receive the highest quality product that will leave you completely satisfied. There are several print techniques available, each better suited to different types of garments or the complexity of your logo. Below, we explain some of the methods we offer, including screen printing, DTG (Direct to Garment), and transfer printing.
Screen Printing
Screen printing is ideal for logos with bold, vibrant colours. It’s particularly recommended for large orders with the same design across multiple garments. This method uses multi-coloured inks, which are applied to the garment through mesh screens. Once we receive your logo, it is separated into different colours for each screen. After each colour is applied, the garment is placed under a heat lamp and goes through a drying process to ensure the ink stays intact and doesn’t fade. Screen printing is perfect for a variety of garments, from t-shirts to hoodies, and works especially well for larger back designs where the same logo is applied across multiple items. This technique is typically used for orders of 25 or more items.

DTG (Direct to Garment)
DTG, or Direct to Garment printing, is a method where ink is directly applied to the garment, as the name implies. To achieve the highest quality result, this technique requires a specialized printer and ink that is absorbed by the fabric fibers. Before production, a fixing agent is applied to help the colour adhere properly to the garment. Because of this, the garments may need to be washed before wearing to remove any residual smell from the fixing agent. DTG printing is ideal for intricate logos and designs with multiple colours, making it perfect for custom, full-colour jobs with a quick turnaround. This method works especially well on t-shirts and hoodies.

Transfer Printing
The final method of printing we offer is transfer printing, which can be likened to the names and numbers found on the back of a football shirt. A sheet of vinyl is carefully cut to match the shape of your logo or design, with the excess vinyl removed. The design is then flipped and heat-sealed onto the garment using a heat press.
Vinyl transfer printing is ideal for simpler designs with a limited number of colours, typically logos with 1-2 colours. This method is well-suited for small to medium-sized orders and works on most garments (except fleece and wool). We particularly recommend this process for Hi-Vis clothing.
